Amy McKamey

Hello, I’m Amy

I know firsthand how difficult it is to lose a loved one and be thrust into grief.

When I lost my son suddenly in 2013 my world shattered. I was left feeling helpless, confused and disoriented by daily life. I struggled to navigate all of the new challenges, intense feelings and dealing with people around me who just didn’t get it.

Grief can rearrange your life, your priorities, your interests, your relationships and so many other things. Because of how difficult and confusing my own personal journey was with navigating grief I want to help others by supporting and guiding them to make their journey a little easier and less daunting.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Coaching is new approach to solving life’s challenges. Coaches ask questions and assist clients in breaking down challenges and issues into practical, achievable steps. Coaching helps one identify and understand obstacles that get in the way of achieving their goals. Coaching provides clients with customized tools and teaches them new skills that support them in making changes now and in the future. A client achieves more, in a shorter period of time, through effective coaching because the coach gives a client personalized guidance, tools and support that works for them.

  • Including Somatic Work in my coaching practice is crucial because it addresses the challenges that arise when depression or anxiety make long-term change feel impossible. As a Somatic Embodiment Practitioner, I help clients develop personalized techniques to calm their bodies during intense emotions and discomfort, enabling them to access choice and take effective action. This approach transforms overwhelming situations into manageable and achievable steps, making lasting change more attainable.

  • Somatic Embodiment & Regulation involves using mind-body techniques to help regulate and reshape the nervous system. It focuses on calming the body when intense emotions or bodily sensations arise. This is essential for those experiencing constant stress or trauma, which can keep the nervous system stuck in fight/flight/freeze modes, leading to physical symptoms like rapid heartbeat, headaches, muscle pain, and shortness of breath. These symptoms can contribute to anxiety, overthinking, and feeling overwhelmed. By using somatic techniques to release these sensations and emotions, the body transitions from a state of dysregulation to one of balance, enabling clearer thinking and empowering action.
